Can’t believe in the year 2023 we have to say: do not consume borax. It will not provide a “parasite cleanse”, it does not combat the “evil fluoride” in your water, and it is not a super mineral. the concept of a freakshow never fully went away. nowadays people collect posts/screenshots of disabled/mentally ill people literally just Existing Online and put them on their accounts with the intention of displaying them for people to hurl abuse towards. And they think that this is a Normal and Moral way to behave and carry themselves.
Also? TLC shows are often freakshows rebranded to be inspoporn or “these are obviously freaks but we’re HELPING them”. I’m a literal bearded woman and had a TLC show producer reach out to try and make a show about me in 2018. See also: British tabloids and reality shows. They’re even more aggressively obvious that they’re into freaks. Freakshows are everywhere in modern media.

Hot take: SNAP/EBT (foodstamps) should be usable for buying hot ready made food. Not allowing poor people to get takeout is just punishing disabled people who can’t cook just cause we’re poor. I shouldn’t have to choose between my last spoons and eating.
Second hot take: able-bodied poor people who can cook also deserve takeout. Everyone has days they’re too exhausted to cook. No one should be punished for being poor. Easy access to food shouldn’t be a fucking privilege.

Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.
Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.
That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.
(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)
